Get Rid of Scratches on Your Wood Flooring

Carpet isn't the only flooring in your home that needs to be taken care of. Wood is very beautiful and valuable in a home. Many people choose it over tile not only because it is beautiful but because of how much easier it is on the joints. Older ones especially benefit from the give that wood flooring has. However, there are also some other aspects to consider. Wood flooring takes a bit more maintenance to keep looking beautiful than that of tile. This is especially true if you have wood and a lovely furry creature like a dog. We as humans can unfortunately scratch wood flooring by being careless but dogs do it simply by walking on it. What can you do about scratches caused by your dogs claws on your wood floor? Elite Carpet Cleaning knows the best solution when it comes to your wood flooring because we aren’t just carpet experts.

In all honesty the only thing that can fix those scratches is to have it refinished. There are a couple of different options that you have when it comes to protecting your wood flooring without having to refinish it. It doesn’t have to be as complicated as you might be thinking it is. So, what are your options and what do each of them entail?

There is what is called a Renew Finish. It includes a good cleaning, getting all the dirt and particles out of the scratches and divots that have formed. From there we are able to add a thin protective layer of new finish to your flooring. This type of finishing will last about a year or so. What is really nice about this type of finishing is the fact that you can walk on it just 2 hours after the application.

The next option is a little bit more extensive. It's called Tykote. This is a twostep process. Where this one differs from the form is the fact that after we clean it, we then fill the scratches and dents in. This provides a completely new layer of finish that will last up to 5 years. Doing this will protect your original finish.

Remember though that this is just to help you until it comes to the point where you need to actually sand it down and have it refinished. Our process doesn’t get rid of the scratches or stain, but it does help to prolong the beauty and life of your wood flooring. If it's been a couple of years since you’ve had any extra protection to your wood, then give us a call today for a free evaluation! Elite Carpet Cleaning can help you whether you have carpet, wood or tile!
