How to Sanitize your Flooring

How to Sanitize your Flooring

Right now, in a world of panic there are a number of different things that homeowners are doing in order to make sure that their home is safe and sanitized. One of the things that you’ll want to make sure is sanitized is your flooring, especially if you have little ones crawling around on the floor. Knowing how to sanitize your floor can be difficult because you don’t just have one type of flooring in your home. That means you have to do research on each flooring to know how to properly sanitize each type of flooring in your home. Elite Carpet Cleaning has been helping homeowners for many years to professionally clean their floors whether it is tile, carpet, or wood. Here is how you can sanitize each of those types of floors.

Tile: When it comes to sanitizing your tile flooring it becomes pretty easy because it is a very durable type of flooring. The best way to disinfect is combining a gallon of water, half a cup of ammonia, half a cup of white vinegar, and a fourth cup of borax. This will give you a solution that just won’t disinfect but also restore the shine your tile once had. To apply the solution, you can either use a spray bottle or just stick your mop head right into the solution itself. When it comes to making sure that you get the dirt and grime off it, you’ll want it to sit there for about 10 minutes and then you can scrub away.

Carpet: This type of flooring isn’t as easy to disinfect as tile is. There is a bit more work involved than just a bucket and a mop. The way that you make the solution for your carpet is by simply doing two parts water to one-part vinegar. This solution can be put into a carpet cleaning machine. Many people have their own at home but if you don’t you can rent it at your local Walmart for a great price. Of course, we have to be up front and say that nothing sanitizes as good as our professional machine and eco-friendly solution.

Wood: This type of flooring is very popular in home and can be easily disinfected. The first step when it comes to proceeding with disinfecting your wood flooring is to first vacuum up any debris that might be lurking there. Make sure that you don’t have your beater brush on because it can damage your flooring. From there you will be ready to apply the disinfectant. For the disinfectant you can do a gallon of water and a half a cup of white vinegar. You can apply it using a simple mop and bucket, just keep in mind that you don’t want gobs of this solution sitting there on your floor. When you have mopped your entire floor, you’ll want to dry it with a clean towel.
